Jennifer Hart will take you through the steps required to build your own planter. Jennifer will start with an explanation of how the project was designed, which you will then build yourself and leave with the completed project. You will be surprised at what you can accomplish in 2 hours. All tools and materials will be supplied.

Jennifer Hart has been a self-employed home contractor since 1998 and is an employee of Lee Valley Tools. Jennifer teaches the Women and Power Tools seminars at Lee Valley as well as quite a few others. When not working in the city, she likes to escape to her 50 acre farm, where she can be found honing her rough carpentry skills or reading a book. |

We will be learning in a workshop setting and then practicing basic photographing skills at the festival.
Caution this is NOT a technical session on the use of your camera but a look at the creative and practical skills need to capture great garden/floral shots
Workshop commence early morning (8:30 am) prior to the festival opening, allowing an early look at the Feature Gardens and Garden Hall.
Trish will email you a few days before with suggestions of things to bring for the workshop.
Tripods are permitted but must be removed
from the floor by 9:45 am

The history of fruit and vegetable carving have originated in Sukothai, Thailand 700 years ago. It started during the Loi Kratong festival in the 14th century by Nang Noppamart who was the King Phra Ruang’s servant. She created a unique decoration for her raft, she carved a flower from a vegetable using a real flower as a pattern. So the King was very impressed by the grace and beauty of the carving and decreed that every women should learn this new art.
As the centuries passed,this art is taught in primary schools through secondary school in Thailand. Optional courses are also offered in universities throughout Thailand.
Fruit and Vegetable Carving is generally used as a garnish. It can also be used for flower arranging.
